Pitlochry- 5th till 7th October

Our stop for the next couple of nights was the town of Pitlochry, a small town on the river Tummel.  On our way there we stopped at Doune Castle, notable for being used in the filming of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  The audio tour was narrated by Terry Jones from Monty Python which was pretty amusing.  It was a fun castle with lots of hidden stairways leading to intriguing corridors.

Doune Castle. It looks like it has been nibbled.

Indeed.  Thanks for that.

Terrifying ghosts haunt the stairwells. Or it might be Morgan falling down.

The Great Hall. I would say it was average.

View from the top.

The lovely Helen.
Ah, gift shop hilarity.
Pitlochry is a small but bustling town with a very popular theatre.  Our campsite distinguished itself by being open (which is now getting to be an issue at this time of year), near to town and having baths!!  I'm a simple girl to please.  While in town we visited Moulin brewery, a very small (obviously) microbrewery with tasty beer, where we had the world's least informative 'tour'. It involved the guy saying 'I make beer' and then staring at us in silence until we left. We also saw the power station with it's 310m salmon ladder.  Another highlight was unbraiding Josh's hair.....yep, you can tell we didn't achieve much during our stay!!
Expect 50% less beard in future blogs.

Helen eats cake REALLY fast!

The power station and dam.

Before......

...during...

...and after.

So, after doing little (but having a really good time) we drove onwards.
